Yosemite and Bass Lake

The end of July we went to Yosemite National Park (that is where Weston is working right now). I told him I wanted to see 3 things: the big sequoia trees, waterfalls, and a bear. He said you know this isn't Yellowstone where you can just go to a spot that bears hangout to see them. I said I know but it would just make my trip to see a bear. So we were on our way down from Half Dome and traffic was stopped in the middle of the road. Weston said there must be a bear because that is usually what will stop traffic. So I jump out of the truck with the camera and go running down the road. Weston is hollering at me to get back in the truck because it was a cub and he said the mother is probably not very far away. I said not til I get a picture. He said your acting like these crazy tourists...I said I am a tourist. It was pretty funny, but I got my picture.
Cute little bear made my trip!
Half Dome with Waterfall in the background.
Sequoia Trees at Mariposa Grove, it was amazing how big around they are.

We rented a boat and tube and spent one day on Bass Lake. The kids had a blast. I don't think Chantz got off of the tube except just long enough to eat.
Yes I even rode the tube!

Crazy busy update

We have been crazy busy for weeks now and I am running out of fumes! Chantz had the Masten Ramsey Horseshow on the 17th & 18th of July, then we went to Yosemite to visit Weston since he is working down there, got back and was home for 2 days then left for another horse show in Winnemucca Nevada, back home for The Fiesta Ranch Roping that we were helping put on. Now we are off to St. George to visit family and friends, then back for 2 days before the county fair horse show. Just in time for school to start on Monday the 24th of August. Whew!!
I am still trying to get all the pictures downloaded from all of our craziness, so I will post them as I do. Sage sang the national anthem at The Fiesta and did such a great job. I am so proud of both of them. My dad, Chantz, and I won one of the roping classes at The Fiesta which meant the world to me to just be roping with my dad and my son!
Masten Ramsey Horse Show
Chantz won the high point on Friday and the Jr. Bridle Class and my dad won the Open Bridle Class on Saturday. That was pretty special. Chantz was so excited.
Poor Tabu he looks so tired. He is 26 years old now. He takes such good care of Chantz.
Running down for a sliding stop.
Slide Stop. Nice.
Happy Buckle winner!
Chantz & Gramps..Two peas in a pod. They look nothing alike huh!

4th of July

Daddy's Girl

Parade

We had a great time on the 4th. We went to the BIG parade and the park festivities. Then we went to some friends house for BBQ, water fights (for the kids), and fireworks. Weston surprised the kids and was able to come home and spend the holiday with us. It was great!

Ready for this SUPER long update

Baseball Season
Baseball season is almost over, only one more game. Chantz has done a great job this year. He played catch quite a bit and loves it.

This is Chantz batting.

Playing Catch.

Catch again.

Memorial Day Camping
Over the holiday weekend we went camping with our friends the MacDonnells. We had a great time playing cards, horseshoes, and had great food. The kids had a blast playing in the creek and I even got to take them snipe hunting, which was the highlight of the weekend.
Weston relaxing by the fire.

Sage and her Jiffy Pop!

Sage was the photographer of the weekend. I must have made a good throw at horseshoes.

Mothers Day Tea
Chantz's class hosted a Mother's Day Tea where we had Tea and cookies and listened to poems that each of the kids wrote for their moms. This is the poem Chantz wrote for me:
My Mom and Me
Mom I have fun riding and roping with you.
I can't say thank you enough for all the things you give me.
You are so beautiful that I can't say.
I love you so much.
Happy Mother's Day!
Of course it made me cry.....he is such a sweet boy!

Modoc Idol

Sage won 3rd place out of 16 contestants in Modoc Idol on Sunday night. She did fantastic! One of the judges comments was "The saying goes those boots were made for walkin, but her boot were made for rockin". It was pretty funny! She won $50 so she was thrilled. She also made over $35 from her Snak Shak that she had at her Gramps clinic this past weekend. She is saving up for a camera so she is pretty excited that she is close to having enough money for the one she wants.

Californios

Chantz won the Youth Heritage Class at Californios last weekend. He did so good! He threw a beautiful hip shot and caught on his first loop. His horsmanship was wonderful...we are so proud of him. I know alot of you don't know what Californios is, but to Chantz it is like winning the NFR! He loves it. He says it is better than Christmas. He was so excited! This year was the 10th anniversary of Californios and he won a beautiful hand engraved custom Concho for his saddle and some money. I will try and post some pictures of him roping later, but here is a picture of his prize.

Quick Update

Here are a few pictures of Easter and Sages performance at Modoc Idol. She will perform in the finals on Sunday May 3rd. So we will let you know how that goes. She did really good, but she was really nervous. I am trying to figure out how to download the video, but it is not working. I will keep working on it.
